What: La Bohème                              
When: Friday 8th June, 6.50-9am

This is the Royal Opera House’s celebrated 2013 staging of Puccini’s classic romance, produced by John Copley and conducted by Mark Elder. Maija Kovalevska stars as seamstress Mimi opposite Dmytro Popv as penniless poet Rodolfo.


What: Verdi’s Macbeth
When: Saturday 8th June, 6.30-9.30pm
Where: BBC Radio 3

Antonio Pappano conducts the Chorus and Orchestra of the Royal Opera, Covent Garden in a revival of Phyllida Lloyd’s 2002 production of Verdi's work. A starry cast is led by celebrated soprano Anna Netrebko as Lady Macbeth, a woman driven by her ambition for her husband, performed by baritone Željko Lučić.


What: Il Volo with Placido Domingo
When: Sunday 10th June, 6.45-9pm
Where: Sky Arts

Italian operatic pop trio Il Volo pay tribute to the Three Tenors in this concert in Florence, featuring Placido Domingo as a special guest conductor.

What: John Wilson and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at the Aldeburgh Festival
When: Monday 11th June, 19:30 – 22:00
Where: BBC Radio 3

As part of the Aldeburgh Festival, John Wilson conducts the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in music by Britten, Bernstein and Copland. The programme includes Britten’s Suffolk-inspired 4 Sea Interludes, Bernstein’s sombre Halil and the suite from Aaron Copland's 1938 cowboy fantasy, Billy the Kid. The orchestra are joined by pianist Pavel Kolesnikov and flautist Claire Chase.



What: BBC National Orchestra of Wales – Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich
When: Tuesday 12th June, 7:30-10pm
Where: BBC Radio 3

Chief Conductor Thomas Søndergård takes the helm of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in Shostakovich's Symphony No.5 in D minor, and Baiba Skride is the soloist in Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major.


What: Prokofiev in Concert
When: Wednesday 13th June, 7am – 7.20am
Where: Sky Arts

Russian pianist Denis Kozhukhin (Winner of the First Prize in the 2010 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels) performs Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No.1.

What: The Britten Sinfonia in Beethoven and Barry
When: Thursday 14th June, 7.30-10pm
Where: BBC Radio 3

Ian Skelly presents the Britten Sinfonia from the Barbican in London, where Thomas Adès and the Orchestra continue their Beethoven symphony cycle with no. 6, the Pastoral. Beethoven's music is paired with the inventive music of Irish composer Gerald Barry.


What: BBC National Orchestra of Wales performs for Bernstein’s Centenary
When: Friday 15th June, 7.30-10pm
Where: BBC Radio 3

Live from the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea, conductor Eric Stern celebrates Bernstein's centenary with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the soprano Emily Birsan. Annelien Van Wauwe is the soloist in an orchestrated version of Bernstein's Sonata for Clarinet.
